Welcome to my blog. My hope is to bring you useful and thought-provoking information as well as updates on what’s going on with me and The Bridge to Health. I will share with you some of my favorite books and tips, as well. My awesome husband, Mike (a freelance writer), and I will be celebrating our 10-year anniversary soon. I have grown sons of whom I am very proud. Nick is married to a wonderful girl (Megan) and they live in Canada. My younger son, Ben, lives with his sweetheart (Emmy) in Wisconsin.
I enjoy being outdoors and in touch with nature, gardening, running and hiking. I also love to read and learn. One of my favorite things to do (believe it or not) is to go to classes and conferences, especially in the areas of metaphysics, energy medicine and spirituality. I find the concepts of quantum physics fascinating.
I have worked in nursing since 1976, doing a variety of things from hospital to home health care nursing, risk management, quality improvement and administration. I have been a full-time nurse practitioner since 1995. After treating patients in a primary care setting (internal medicine) for the first five years, my practice shifted toward headache and chronic pain management in a large, multi-specialty clinic neurology department.
Over the years, I have seen how traditional medicine outcomes can be enhanced by therapies that may be considered non-traditional or complementary. I have also learned how nutrition, our minds and our body’s energy can influence our own healing abilities and general well-being. My interests led me to pursue additional education and training in several integrative medicine modalities, including nutritional medicine, energy psychology techniques, hypnosis, imagery and energy medicine.
In 2005, I went into private practice so I could focus more on teaching people these complementary techniques and spending more time with my clients. I chose The Bridge to Health as my clinic’s name because I wanted to provide a bridge between traditional and complementary medicine, with the individual as the focal point, and help people find ways to attain optimal health. I welcome your input about topics you would like to know more about. Enjoy!
