Reiki Classes and Attunements

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a technique used to reduce stress, encourage relaxation, promote healing and restore a sense of well being. It addresses all aspects of a person: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual; and assists the body’s ability to heal itself.  The word reiki comes from the Japanese words rei, which means universal or highest and ki meaning subtle energy. The Usui method of Reiki was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui, a teacher and Japanese Buddhist in the late 1800’s. Many believe Dr. Usui rediscovered a “lying on of hands” healing technique used for thousands of years, while others say the technique originated with him.

How does it work?

You’re probably well acquainted with your physical body. But what you may not know is that you also have an energy body fueled by a wonderful, subtle energy known as universal life energy. This universal life energy flows within you and around you. A Reiki practitioner works with your energy body to help bring it into balance.

What are the benefits?

Reiki relieves pain, slows respiration, and lowers blood pressure. It helps calm and relax the person receiving it and is believed to balance a person’s energy. It supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself. A Reiki practitioner does not diagnose, prescribe or treat in a medical way. Since there are no contraindications, Reiki can be used with traditional Western medicine. In fact, it is used in some hospitals and hospice settings, as well as by professionals such as massage therapists, occupational and rehab therapists, by those in ministry and in private practice.

Can I learn Reiki?

Absolutely. Reiki is incredibly easy to learn. Anyone can do it.

What kind of training does a Reiki practitioner have?
A Reiki practitioner goes through a series of attunements. These initiations or empowerments seal open the channels that allow the energy to flow easily. Once attuned, the individual retains the abilities for the rest of his or her life.

Reiki I: The practitioner needs to be physically close to the receiver to transfer Reiki energy. Reiki I also includes an overview of the Charka system and the art of dowsing. Participants have an opportunity to practice during the class.

Reiki II: The practitioner learns the keys for balancing emotional and mental aspects and how to send the energy over distance. Reiki II includes additional teaching on the Charka system and an introduction to essential oils and crystals. Participants have an opportunity to practice during the class.

Reiki III: This attunement denotes mastery and is required to be compensated for sessions and earn income as a Reiki Master. It is also necessary for the Master Teacher apprenticeship and allows the practitioner to teach others and pass on attunements.

Rieki I, II, and Master: cost: $175 each class  - Classes are usually about 4 hours, and include lecture, discussion, demonstration, the attunement and group practice.

Reiki Master Teacher: This attunement includes an apprenticeship and is required to teach and pass on attunements.  The apprenticeship will allow you to participate in a Reiki I, II and III class and attunement, to learn the process and have an opportunity to practice the attunements. It is also recommended that you  have participated in at least 30 Reiki sessions. Cost is $500

Each course includes a manual, additional resources as well as ongoing support. Questions can be directed to Reiki Master, Bonnie Groessl at bgroessl@gmail.com
